Cold Weather Camping Training
Cold Weather Camping Training for Adult Scouters
>> Do you want to motivate your unit to camp overnight at the Klondike Derby?
>> Do you want your unit to earn our Council’s Winter Camper Award?
>> Do you want to extend your unit’s camping program to a 12-month schedule?
If you answered YES to any of these questions, then Cold Weather Camping Training is for you! Here’s another reason why you should take this training: It’s not always summer!
The purpose of this training is to provide the adults who camp with Scouts with the knowledge and skills necessary to properly plan for and successfully conduct a safe and fun outdoor cold-weather camping experience. This course will be interactive and hands-on. This training includes skills that can be directly applied to cold weather camping environments.
This is NOT a survival skills course. This training is an opportunity for adult Scouting volunteers to learn how cold-weather camping can be fun, exciting, safe and enjoyable, all while developing the confidence and skills necessary to take your unit camping in a cold-weather environment.
The training will be held in 2 parts; the indoor training and the outdoor experience. The indoor training culminates in an overnight cold-weather camping experience where everything covered indoors will be put into practice outdoors so you can test your new-found skills.
