CLIMBING INSTRUCTOR FUNDAMENTALS TRAINING
Hosted by Bay-Lakes & Samoset Councils

Scouts BSA and Venturing youth demand an exciting, challenging outdoor program.  This requires volunteer leaders trained in various high adventure skills.  The Bay-Lakes and Samoset Councils are teaming up to provide Climbing instructor training in 2024!  This training will allow leaders to conduct their own Climbing programs, in addition each council will be able to expand year-round programs at camp with more trained instructors.

 

COPE & Climbing Fundamentals
Level I & Level 2

Gardner Dam Adventure Base, White Lake, WI

Course Details:

The Fundamentals course is approximately 16 hours long, beginning at 7:00 PM on Friday and ending by 4:00 PM on Sunday.  Participants must attend this fundamental training in order to attend the Climbing instructor training weekend on April 26th - April 28th, 2024. 

Participants must register for and attend both training weekends to be certified.  

The cost per weekend is $25 per person.  The course is open to adults 18 years and older and/or youth that are 16 years or older and have been nominated by their unit leader.  Participants must be at least 21 years or older to be certified as a level 2 instructor.

A completed BSA Medical form is required. Each participant is also responsible for all of his or her personal clothing, bedding and hygiene needs.

A fully trained and enthusiastic volunteer staff provides all of the leadership, instruction and supervision for each weekend. The Bay-Lakes and Samoset councils will provides all equipment, food, sleeping quarters and course materials.

Reminder: All adults staying overnight on the property must be Registered Adult Leaders with the Boy Scouts of America and have completed the required Youth Protection Training within two years of the last day of the last session for which you register.
