2025 COPE Trainings: Foundation level 1 COPE & Climbing

Camp Mountaineer | Morgantown, WV

The initial introductory course designed to teach basic instructor skills required to support the COPE and Climbing programs at Camp Mountaineer. Course will include basic knots, artificial structure rigging, site and equipment inspections, introduction to natural rock rigging, basic administrative functions, universal access, belay and spotting techniques, dealing with fear, and emergency procedures.

Location:  Camp Mountaineer (187 Camp Mountaineer Road, Morgantown)

Dates:  Friday, April 11 - Sunday, April 13

Cost:  $30 (includes course materials, food, campsite for overnight stay)

Prequisites: 

• must be at least age 16
• must be currently registered in the BSA
• must bring a current BSA Annual Health & Medical Record (Parts A & B)
