2024 Total Solar Eclipse at the Manatoc Scout Reservation
On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. The sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk. After this event, the next total solar eclipse that can be seen from the contiguous United States will be on Aug. 23, 2044. Join us at the Manatoc Scout Reservation for a prime opportunity to view this historic celestial event. Viewing locations will include the Manatoc Parade Field, the Manatoc Obstacle Course and the Camp Butler Sports Field.
Two different packages are available:
1. Units may reserve a cabin or tent camping for a base fee. The additional per-person fee includes a meal Sunday night and lunch on Monday.
2. Individual Monday (only) Eclipse package includes a lunch on Monday.
Both packages include solar viewing glasses and a patch!
Patches and protective glasses are guaranteed to the first 250 registered participants!
According to Nationaleclipse.com, the camp will see the eclipse begin on April 8 at 3:14:02 PM and last for 3 minutes and 20 seconds.
