Overview:

The STEM Speaker Series is a way for you to learn about exciting STEM careers!  The conversations will be held on Teams.  Attendees will have an opportunity to join a Q&A with each of our guests.

Upcoming Event:

April 9:  A Trip on the Alvin

Lane Abrams is a Senior Engineer at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. He has participated in numerous cruises, frequently for services with the Alvin Operations Group. These include mobilization and demobilization activiies supporting Alvin cruises, dealing with the installation and maintenance of eqipment, and engineering and test dives.

The Alvin can dive as deep as 6,500 meters (more than 4 miles) giving it access to 99% of the entire ocean floor. It is the only deep-diving research submarine that can seat 2 science observers in addition to the pilot

Most famously, the Alvin photographed the wreckage of the Titanic in 1986.
