A Scouts & Navy Experience

Event Details

A day of physical challenges, teamwork, and meaningful engagement designed to expose kids (ages 12-18) to the personalities and experiences of Navy sailors. The event will inspire Scouts to think about their futures through personal stories and shared experiences.

All participating leaders and sailors are required to complete the Scouting America Swim Check as a condition of participation. The swim check includes the following components:

  • Entry into Deep Water
  • Jump into water over your head, level off, and begin swimming.
  • Swimming Proficiency
  • Swim 75 yards continuously using a strong stroke such as sidestroke, breaststroke, trudgen, or front crawl. (Dog paddling is not permitted.)
  • Resting Backstroke
  • Swim 25 yards using a relaxed, restful backstroke.
  • Floating
  • Demonstrate the ability to float and rest for approximately one minute.

All attendees must pass the Scouting America “Swimmer’s Test” at the Swimmer level, as outlined in the official Swim Classification Record. This test must be completed in advance by a certified lifeguard or onsite before participating in any aquatic activities.
